Auto Observer recently sat down with researchers at the MIT AgeLab to learn more about a new study about distracted driving and how it changes as we age. By placing drivers of various ages into a simulator, researchers can collect data related to distraction. After studying conditions such as heart rate and eye movement, it becomes clear that different age groups are distracted by different stimuli. For example, young people have a harder time tuning out in-car distractions like text messages and cell phones, while older drivers are more impacted by sirens and flashing lights outside of the vehicle.

Researcher Bryan Reimer said that in most cases, reducing distracted driving isn't so much a matter of leveraging technology to make current car features easier to use; instead, it's more about properly educating drivers about said features before they hit the road .

AgeLab also investigated a number of other driving-related technologies, including automated parallel parking systems like the one found on the 2010 Lincoln MKS to discern how drivers of various ages would adapt to theem. Hit the jump to see a video on the research.

Vettel hits the front in final practice

Sebastian Vettel shrugged off his lack of Friday running to go quickest in the final practice session ahead of Turkish Grand Prix qualifying. The Red Bull driver edged out countryman Michael Schumacher by just a thousandth of a second as Mercedes continued to show very promising form and took second and fourth places, with Mark Webber putting the second Red Bull third ahead of Nico Rosberg.

Chrysler hit a high note when it employed the services of Eminem to show off its new 2011 200 sedan. That commercial put the exact type of spotlight on Detroit that the city was looking for. The automaker is going back to the same well stylistically for a new spot featuring the 2011 Chrysler 300. It's still tied to The D, but this time, it shows a person returning to their roots back in Portland, Oregon.

That person is Ndamukong Suh, defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions and NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. He's returning to the place that made him the man he is, and he's using a new Chrysler 300 to take him there. It's not as overtly dramatic as the Eminem ad, yet it still works at both pulling you into a piece of Suh's world and showing off the automaker's new sedan. Click past the jump to check it out.

Rockenfeller: Traffic key to race

Audi driver Mike Rockenfeller believes that dealing with traffic will be more critical than usual in deciding the outcome of the Spa 1000km this weekend. Every official session during the Spa weekend, which is the second round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, has been red flagged, some of the stoppages being as a result of collisions between drivers of LMP1 cars and those in the slower categories
