Pedrosa furious over ?unfair? incident

Dani Pedrosa said it was "very unfair" that Marco Simoncelli only received a ride-through penalty for the Le Mans incident that left the Spaniard with a broken collarbone. Pedrosa and Simoncelli were fighting over second place when they made contact with 10 laps to go in France, with Pedrosa falling after Simoncelli pulled across in front of him while trying to complete an outside-line pass.

Marquez claims first Moto2 victory

Reigning 125cc champion Marc Marquez put the troubled start to his Moto2 career behind him with a very strong ride to victory at Le Mans. Incidents in the first three rounds meant Marquez had not even scored prior to the French event, and in the early laps today he was at the tail of a lead train also featuring polesitter and points leader Stefan Bradl, Thomas Luthi, Yuki Takahashi, Julian Simon, Aleix Espargaro, Simone Corsi and Bradley Smith. Marquez worked his way forward until at half-distance he was in the thick of things as Luthi stormed past Bradl to lead at the first corner, and Bradl then fell to fourth behind Takahashi and Marquez while trying to fight back.

Spain preview quotes: Pirelli

Paul Hembery: "We said from the start of the year that we would introduce evolutions of the tyres if we believed that they would benefit the sport and Barcelona marks the first occasion that we have done this. The new tyre - which we have tested extensively ? reduces degradation and improves tyre wear.

First podium with Ducati delights Rossi

Valentino Rossi said his first podium finish in Ducati colours was particularly satisfying because he had had such a tough start to his career with the Italian firm. Having struggled so far this season both with fitness following his 2010 shoulder issues and to adapt to the Desmosedici, Rossi came through from ninth on the grid to finish third at Le Mans today, narrowly missing out on second after a dice with Andrea Dovizioso. "I'm so happy - the first podium with Ducati is a great emotion, especially because I arrived there after a difficult period when we were struggling a lot with my physical condition, and also to understand the bike more," he said.
