Rosso Everything? Many New Ferraris Still Red, But More Are Other Colors

In the early 1960s, Pietro Ferraro took delivery of a fresh-off-the-line Ferrari 250 GTO. Prior to entering the car in the 1962 Targa Florio, he had it resprayed brown and, along with co-driver Giorgio Scarlatti, subsequently took first place in the GT class and fourth overall. Once the race was over, the car was repainted [...]

Loix clinches Ypres victory

Freddy Loix won the Ypres Rally for the seventh time in his career with a dominant performance on his home round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. The Belgian veteran was barely threatened throughout the two-day event, pulling clear of early rival Guy Wilks with a string of stage wins on Friday, and ultimately winning by over one and a half minutes as problems hit all the other main contenders. The result put Loix into the IRC championship lead, with pre-rally points leader Juho Hanninen not entered for this event.

Battle in the Pacific

Okayama International in Japan was the host venue for Round Eight of the iRacing V8 Supercar Series. Things have been getting a little keen in this immensely popular Aussie series, with no shortage of biff at Zandvoort the previous week. Okayama was formerly named Aida, and hosted the “Pacific Grand Prix” in the early 1990′s. The ’94 event was noteworthy for being the penultimate Grand Prix for the late Ayrton Senna, before his tragic death at Imola. The Brazilian great didn’t make it past the first corner thanks to Mika Hakkinen. In any case, the track has probably never seen as much action, in the virtual world at least, since it was added to iRacing’s expanding supply of world-class laser scanned tracks, in Season One. “My strategy was just to [...]

Dovizioso relieved to hang on third

Andrea Dovizioso was relieved to hang on to third place in the Dutch Grand Prix after a tyre vibration developed in the closing stages. The Honda rider had enough of a cushion over fourth-placed Valentino Rossi's Ducati to still complete the podium.
