Silverstone plans major upgrade

Silverstone bosses hope to sign off plans for a major redevelopment plan of the home of the British Grand Prix on Friday, as they continue a push to find investors. With the second phase of Silverstone's redevelopment - focused around the new £28 million 'wing' pits and paddock complex - now complete, attention is shifting to a wider update that will include hotels, a new kart track, music arenas, car showrooms and experience centres. The board of Silverstone Circuit hopes to approve the scheme at a meeting ahead of the British Grand Prix, before it is then sent to the local authorities over the next few weeks for approval.

Nasr inherits win from Magnussen

Felipe Nasr inherited his fifth win of the season as mechanical problems struck long-time leader Kevin Magnussen in the closing stages of this afternoon's British Formula 3 race at the Nurburgring. Magnussen had led from the start from pole and looked on course to collect his second win of the weekend, but a misfire slowed his Volkswagen-powered Carlin Dallara with less than three laps to run, eventually dropping him to fifth

Spies thinks Mugello win unlikely

Ben Spies has played down his chances of taking a second straight MotoGP race win, despite qualifying second at Mugello. The American dominated at Assen last week to secure his maiden victory in the world championship, and then put his Yamaha in the middle of the front row for the Italian Grand Prix in today's wet/dry session. But he is not sure whether he has the pace to threaten to win this weekend.
